It's almost 2024, but I've still got some news
In which I finally talk about things I wasn't allowed to talk about before
It feels like things should be slowing down as we head towards Christmas and the New Year, but there’s still plenty happening here at Lynch Towers.
Welcome to Neverbury was featured in Your Paper Quest
Some months ago I was approached by the team from Your Paper Quest about including Welcome to Neverbury in their subscription box service. Your Paper Quest features independent and self-published titles that are carefully curated by the team and sent out to subscribers once a month. If you’re a reader, it’s a great way to discover new and upcoming writers who may not yet have hit the mainstream.
It was a real treat to meet the team from Your Paper Quest and I’m looking forward to taking part in an online discussion with some of their subscribers in early 2024. Hopefully, they will all have enjoyed their trip to Neverbury!
One of the lovely things that YPQ do for their subscribers is to encourage authors/publishers to come up with something special that can be included in the package along with the book, something that nobody else will ever get to see. My contribution was a fictional library ticket from the Neverbury Library that showed which residents of the town might have been withdrawing a certain book…
This piece of news has been under embargo until this month, so I’m delighted to finally be able to share it (and to stop worrying that I might let the cat out of the bag).
Offworld: Alien Planet is on General Release
And, speaking of news that has been embargoed for a little while…
Yes, after many years of post-production, Offworld is finally moving to general release.
I co-wrote this feature film with Terry Cooper sometime in 2016 (I think… it was a while ago anyway!) After a successful Kickstarter campaign, filming began in pretty short order. We had a great cast and committed team behind the scenes (not including me, I turned up to one very cold script read above a comic shop, bought everyone Greggs, and then promptly went on holiday). We even had every penny the budget said that we needed. What could go wrong?
Well, it turns out, lots of things. Sound problems. Edit problems. Lost footage problems. Problem problems.
Terry and Dani have stuck with the project through thick and thin, fixing every problem until we not only have a finished product but also have an amazing US-based distributor who has taken on the film.
With their help, we have a new title “Offworld: Alien Planet”, a new poster, a new trailer, and a shot at appearing on streaming services all over the world.
2025 could finally be the year that the world gets to see Offworld.
You can find out more about what’s happening in Terry’s latest update at Kickstarter.
And, speaking of 2025…
I’m currently about 30% of the way through my word-count target for “Return to Neverbury”. If things move at the same pace that they moved with the previous book, you should see this one out in the few months of 2025.
In the meantime, this is me wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you in 2025.
